Description

Description: The Director of Development will lead the JPS Foundation team responsible for annual giving programs; major gifts from $10,000 up; and foundation communications strategies that engage supporters and drive home how philanthropic gifts contribute to exceptional patient care. The Director of Development will provide leadership, management and accountability to Foundation team members to help the team reach individual and collective fundraising goals. The Director of Development will work closely with the Executive Director, Grant Manager and the Philanthropy Database Manager to align strategies with the JPS Health Network and to ensure that fundraising efforts support priorities of the Network and its executive leadership team.
Typical Duties:

  1. Develops ongoing relationships with leaders, clinical staff, physicians and others to fully understand the JPS Health Network culture, its strategies for continually improving the patient experience and strategic investment opportunities of the health care system.
  2. Cultivates and maintains relationships with major donors, corporate leaders, leading employee supporters, physicians and others for the benefit of the JPS Foundation.
  3. Manages an annual fundraising goal as specified in performance standards, including both renewable gifts and new incremental revenue.
  4. Implements programs and activities to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors at the $10,000 level or higher, with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for the JPS Foundation.
  5. Identifies potential planned giving prospects among assigned donors and partners to solicit those individuals.
  6. Regularly updates Raiser’s Edge donor records with notes and actions. Holds team members accountable for keeping contacts current and entering updates in the donor database to ensure integrity of records.
  7. Cultivates, solicits and stewards support from corporations and foundations to meet annual fundraising goals. Clearly articulates JPS Health Network programs, listens to corporate needs and aligns funding opportunities to their interests. Researches foundations, helps prepare grant proposals, and engages Foundation staff and Board members to cultivate and solicit support for the JPS Health Network.
  8. Develops and executes ongoing strategy to identify qualified prospects and move them to supporter status using tools such as small cultivation events, community networking and Network tours. Solicits assigned donor portfolio, including preparation of individualized materials as needed.
  9. Works closely with the Executive Director, Board members and other leaders to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward appropriate donors.
  10. Leads and evaluates work activities for Development team members, including the Major Gifts Officer, Annual Giving Officer, Foundation Communications Specialist and other supporting staff. Develops annual goals and objectives with team members. Conducts annual performance reviews. Provides coaching and identifies training opportunities for team.
  11. Provides input into hiring decisions and recommendations for team members.
  12. Assists in development annual Foundation budget and other financial development projects as needed.
  13. Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

    Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field of study from an accredited college or university
  • 5 to 7 years of experience working with donors and fundraising
  • Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field of study from and an accredited college or university
  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge
